Dear Dr Paul,

We the people, your faithful followers, are winning national delegate spots all across the country for you. You have a lot more supporters than you "envisioned" a year ago, more than I think you realize now.

There are a ton of UNBOUND Delegates for McCain that can be swayed your way if they were to see you and he go at it head to head in a televised debate.

Our suggestion is that, along with running ads here and there around the country. Challenge John McCain to a nation wide debate and offer to donate $1,000,000 to the charity of his choice. (An offer he can't refuse.)

Obama and Clinton have had many debates but you and the Senator haven't had one.

We know that you will win as always and the unbound delegates will swing your way! This is important and will most assuredly get you a speaking spot at the national convention!

Please consider making the announcement, like you did with Rudy's Reading list!

Thank you for your consideration.

What a GREAT idea! Instead of putting the pressure of funding the $1,000,000 debate price tag on the Ron Paul campaign; how about we do what we as Ron Paul supporters have done thus far and do it ourselves!!!

I can see a "Ron Paul vs. John McCain Debate Money Bomb"

I honestly think that the Ron Paul supporters are doing everything they can to give Ron Paul the exposure that he deserves, but I also think that we are running out of ideas, we are getting tired of being ignored by the mainstream media... Not to say that we are giving up or are defeated, as Ron Paul has said,

"Freedom is popular!"

I think its time to let our "Heavyweight Fighter" (Ron Paul) do what he does best and debate McCain one on one!

So I don't know who is responsible for the prior money bombs but this would be a GREAT way to get Ron Paul on the stage!!!

Ron Paul or Trevor Lyman could hold a press conference and announce the idea and show Ron Paul accepting the offer and then see if McCain steps up or backs down...

Lets run with this I think this could be HUGE

Sorry to be a naysayer, but John McCain will never debate Ron Paul head to head. He has everything to lose and nothing to gain

I love it! I think it's an easy way to put McCain into a no-win situation, at no real cost to us.

Yes, we know McCain won't do it, but if he does, it'll be well worth $1M to get the exposure of a one-on-one debate. And if he doesn't? This is where it's so great: pick a charity that McCain couldn't afford not to support, and make a BIG deal of it. I suggest either:
(1) Children medical issues. Can't beat kids with cancer, or burns, for deserved empathy!
(2) Veterans, specifically, for rehabilitation of injured veterans. Yes, the government is meant to pick up the tab here, but they are failing. This would be a good way to kill more than two birds with one stone: expose the lack of medical care for our veterans (an issue close to Dr Paul's heart), help out some deserving people, and make McCain look like an uncaring schmuck if he says no.

LET'S DO IT!!

p.s. A rumor can be spread that Dr Paul has a "significant campaign announcement" to make. The MSM will jump on that, thinking that he will be dropping out from the race, or endorsing McCain (yeah, right! snicker!). That'll guarantee strong attendance at the press conference. Pick the National Press Club, in Washington DC, as the venue.

This can be great!

That's a good plan.

And actually, on the Jon Stewart Show, McCain basically said he would debate Paul. He was joking, of course, but Paul should call his bluff.

It's a win-win for RP!

We need to think larger like $5 mil. Some for the kids & some for the Vet's. To decline would say every thing.

Dr. Ron Paul would blow McCain away. I don't think McCain has the nuts to face Ron Paul though, and it's too bad, all the ignorant people who believe McCain will bring positive change to this country would get to see just how full of shit he really is. I would love nothing more to see him stumble and backtrack and contradict himself like he seems to do-oh so often.

we are behind you Mr. Paul!! No matter what! Never ever ever surrender.

Why not do it in such fashion to challenge ALL the top dogs including Nader and Barr?

And also contemplate Jesse Ventura for VP. Beat them at their own little celebrity dog show.

Brilliant idea - whoever thought it should be commended. So who's organizing it?

A superg and stellar idea. I don't believe McCain knows any politeness so some of his Vietnam prisoner behavior could be brought out. It would be appropriate and Vets and everyone would love it. On second thought, Mccains Viet behavior is a negative and Dr. Paul does not dwell on negatives.

My friend is the one who came up with the idea. He told Ron about it last month. If the campaign says they are interested, we can work to set up the website etc.

I can also ask Trevor L. to help (whose intentions I think are good).

This is a brilliant idea. It needs to be polished into a form that will be acceptable to RP, MC, the public and the (corrupt) media. My deflating dollars are ready to speak loudly again...even if they speak only in principle!
Get rid of the link at RP2008 to this blog and post the idea in full living color on RP2008!!
Read this, it portrays how this idea is what's needed to explode the RP movement globally:

Let's take it to the next level then. How about this - Paul has 5 million left and no debt, right? Choose 20 random people (Democrat, Republican and Independent) from around the nation to be a panel. If McWar can persuade half of them to support him during the debate, he gets Paul's remaining 5 mil and a promise to not seek the Republican nomination. There could even be meter(s) on the screen during the debate to measure support for whichever candidate. FOX would eat that up - just have to make sure that deep in the fine print we make absolutely sure FOX can't choose the panel.
