McCain's Cancer Secret (CNN)

For several months there's been a rumor that a major RNC/GOP insider in Manhattan is claiming that John McCain has cancer and will drop out of the Presidential race right before the National Convention.

When he does that, he'll give his delegates to Mitt Romney who has only suspended his campaign. If you look at McCain's grapefruit-sized jaw, you do start to wonder. The second half of the rumor is that Romney, knowing Ron Paul's economic expertise, will ask Ron to be his Vice-President! (unlikely)

Old rumor, but at least the first part is plausible. McCain has so many skeletons in his closet he ought to open a Halloween shop, but it's also distinctly plausible that the RNC leadership is holding their noses and going with him to throw him under the electoral bus. Of course, they screw themselves in the process, but they don't see that coming.

McCain has been dogged by health issues for years. Add his age into the mix, and, even if he was a candidate with a true conservative agenda, he would be a risky bet. Any rumors about running mates?

I'm curious as to the idea that candidates can 'give' their delegates to another. Is this possible? I was under the impression that Romney was able to keep his delegates by only 'suspending' his campaign, but if McCain were to drop out, wouldn't he be giving up his delegates? What happens to the delegates that Huckabee had? Do they attend the convention? If so, are there any requirements as to who they have to vote for?

This entire primary season has been wrought with dirty dealing, and it started with the moving up of the primaries. I wish there were a way we could cast a no-confidence vote - oh yeah, there is! And I will be writing his name on my ballot!
